Learn photography the best way there is - out in the field, hands on, guided by an experienced, friendly mentor.
Turn your camera off 'auto' and learn what those buttons and dials do. Take charge!
Photography is not hard. It's a matter of doing a few simple things really well.
You don't need an expensive camera nor experience - just enthusiasm. I do the rest.

Camera techniques we learn:
  • Exposure settings
  • Aperture settings
  • Using depth of field
  • Managing shutter speeds
  • Using the camera self timer
  • ISO settings
  • White balance settings
  • Focus settings
Composition techniques we learn:
  • Framing a shot
  • Foreground / background elements
  • Close-up photography
  • Looking for patterns and leading lines
  • "Rule of thirds" composition
  • Making good use of contrast
  • Conveying a sense of depth
  • Photographing towards the light
The deal
  • Small classes of no more than three.
  • We travel out into the nearby countryside and spend a pleasant day shooting on location.
  • You bring your camera gear and lunch - I provide the transport, printed learning materials and tripods.
  • The trips are especially suited to beginners.
The cost for a full day outing - $150.00 per person.
Shorter outings of 2-3 hours are available.
